Fulfill the Contract. Uncover the Truth. Grimstar Releases on June 16
Command, Conquer, and Exploit in a Dark Sci-Fi Strategy Game Set on a Hostile Alien World
Nürnberg, Germany – May 14, 2025 – What would you do if a corporation demanded you finish the job that killed your brother? On June 16, 2025, Grimstar launches on Steam — a gritty, narrative-driven real-time strategy game from Sven Rahn Games that thrusts players into a desperate struggle for resources, control, and the truth.
Set in a not-so-distant future where Earth’s natural energy is nearly depleted, Grimstar follows the story of a reluctant company worker who inherits his brother’s contract after a fatal mission on a newly discovered alien planet. Bound by corporate law, you’re forced into service on Grimstar — a hostile world brimming with powerful crystalline energy and the promise of salvation for a dying Earth. But as you mine the land and fend off alien threats, questions arise about your brother’s fate… and the real cost of this planetary gold rush.
Grimstar combines classic real-time strategy mechanics with a strong narrative backbone. Its single-player campaign unfolds across a series of missions where players are tasked with efficiently gathering resources, building up infrastructure, and commanding military units against native alien resistance. The game’s progression system rewards resource conservation and mission mastery — the fewer supplies you waste, the faster you level up, unlocking new buildings, upgrades, and combat units.

As you rise through the ranks, you’ll unlock access to three distinct planets, each with its own ecosystem, terrain, and tactical challenges. Mission objectives vary from all-out mining operations to artifact recovery and precision strike assignments. Between standard objectives, players also take on specialized command missions that push their tactical thinking in new directions.
A standout feature in Grimstar is its roster of persistent hero units. These powerful characters can be summoned in each mission without draining your resource pool and level up independently, unlocking new weapons and enhanced abilities over time. Whether you rely on them for frontline brawls or high-value assassinations, they become vital assets as the campaign intensifies.
But Grimstar is more than just numbers and strategy — it’s a story about exploitation on every level. You’re not here by choice. You’re here to serve a contract, to mine a world dry, and to make sure the company turns a profit — no matter the cost to you, or to Grimstar itself.

Grimstar will be available on Steam on June 16th. Join the developer’s Discord for the latest updates and community support.
