First look at Amazon LUNA

Amazon are now steping in to the deep waters with cloud gaming. Cloud gaming is what I think the way to go and as a company such as Amazon there are no questions that this is where they can provide a great value for everyone that not owns a great gaming setup.

What You Should Know Before Jumping In
Cloud gaming isn’t for those who want the absolute maxed-out gaming experience. It’s not for people who’ve already invested in a top-tier gaming rig. With that said, let’s talk about what it actually is.
Fast Track to Games
Right now, cloud gaming depends heavily on your internet provider and home connection. For context, I live in Sweden with pretty decent internet. I tried Amazon Luna on both my home connection (around 300 Mbps) and my company’s 1 Gbps network—and it worked great on both.
The biggest advantage? Instant access to games with minimal wait times and no hassle. It takes longer to start Steam on my computer or load into Xbox than it does to jump into a game on Luna. That’s the main selling point.
The cloud gaming experience excels in convenience. Logging in is quick, and your recently played games are right there at the top—easy to access and launch.

But Are There Any Games?
Yes! At first glance, there’s a solid selection, including some newer releases. But, as always, there’s a catch.
Amazon Luna offers a library of free games right away, though many are older titles. There are also subscriptions for EA and Ubisoft games, and you can link your GOG and Ubisoft accounts to play games you already own.
Since Luna is a new platform, it’s not packed with endless options yet. But for someone without a high-end PC or gaming console, it’s great value. There are plenty of hours of fun to be had in the available library. For hardcore gamers with a massive Steam collection? This isn’t really for you—and that’s okay

Cool Features
Couch Play is where Luna shines. This feature lets you share the gaming experience with someone else as if you were playing together in the same room. Just share a code with a friend, and they can join your game—no Luna account or game ownership required.
I love this. It adds real value, especially for casual or social gaming. This is where cloud gaming truly stands out.

Conclusion
Amazon Luna is a fantastic way to jump into games quickly and easily. It’s ideal for story-driven games and perfect for those who want to play without investing in a PC or console. If you just want to enjoy a good game without the setup hassle, Luna is a great option.
That said, Luna isn’t for 4K/120Hz enthusiasts—it currently maxes out at 1080p/60fps. And if you already own a gaming PC or console, Luna might not add much for you.
