PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions Launches New Closed Beta for Prologue: Go Wayback! on Steam and Epic Games Store
Exclusive interview with Brendan “PLAYERUNKNOWN” Greene and Epic Games explores development, long-term vision and announces the game will be available on Epic Games Store at launch
Amsterdam, Netherlands – 7 May, 2025 – PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions has launched a new Closed Beta for Prologue: Go Wayback!, the studio’s upcoming immersive single-player hardcore survival roguelike. The beta will run from May 7 to May 14 and is available via Steam and the Epic Games Store. To participate, players must sign up via the official Discord: here.
During the closed beta, playtesters will be amongst the first to experience Prologue: Go Wayback!, an open-world, hardcore survival roguelike powered by the studio’s in-house machine-learning-driven terrain generation technology. This innovation enables the near-instant creation of millions of unique, explorable maps, placing players in unpredictable, challenging environments every time they play.
To coincide with the close beta, Epic Games have announced that Prologue: Go Wayback! will be available at launch on the Epic Games Store and published an exclusive interview with Brendan Greene and the PLAYERUNKNOWN Productions team. They discuss the game’s progression from its origins as a Rust-inspired survival concept and how it connects to Greene’s long-term vision of building a game the size of Earth itself.
