Painting PC

A new cozy game about trying to make a career out of art.

Painting PC is out today and comes from Oisoi Studio, the Belgian team behind Painting VR, which has been enjoyed by more than 130,000 players worldwide. While Painting VR is all about the virtual experience of painting, Painting PC explores everything that comes with trying to make a living from it.

The road from hobby painter to paid artist

You start with one brush, no followers, and a cozy studio that’s got plenty of room for improvement. From there, you’ll take on commissions from a cast of colourful characters. Some know exactly what they want. Some think they know exactly what they want and those are often different things.

The better you do, the more money you’ll earn. Impress a client and you might get a bonus. It turns out people can be surprisingly opinionated about artwork they’ve specifically asked you to make.

Once you’ve finished a piece, you can post it to Paintigraph, the game’s built-in social platform. If people like what you’ve made, you’ll gain followers. More followers unlock new brushes and tools, giving you new ways to approach future commissions.

The money you earn can be spent on furniture, decorations, and other items for your studio. Before long, you’ll have a space that actually feels like yours, which is nice because you’ll probably be spending a lot of time there.

It’s about everything that comes with trying to make a living as an artist: taking on commissions, keeping clients happy, posting your work online, and hoping people like what you’ve made. Then wondering why the sketch you spent five minutes on is getting more attention than the painting you spent half an hour perfecting. Which, to be fair, is a pretty authentic artistic experience.
